Catching Up

I won’t bore you all with my excuses about why I haven’t posted. The truth is, I set an intention at the beginning of this year and haven’t followed through.

So what have I been up to now that we’re halfway through the year? Let’s go!

Family – Gabriel is finishing kindergarten next week! This year has absolutely flown by and I can’t believe I have a 1st grader. Summer break for him is really only about 6 weeks so it’s even crazier to think how fast the next school year is coming.

Work – Ebbs and flows but for sure gearing up for our busy season: summer!

School – Well, technically I’m not a student right now but I sure am considering applying the an Ed.D program with lot of trepidation…summer decision to make!

Personal – As some of you may have noticed, I’ve picked up a new hobby: paper planning. I’m 6 months in a loving this hobby because it’s all about getting stuff done! I love lists! This hobby has helped soothe my anxiety and brought me together with some awesome people. Can’t wait to keep getting more involved and creative.

Health – Another hobby turned lifestyle change is Keto! Yep, Im back baby. To recap, I tried keto around the same time last year and lost my confidence. Now, after a year under my endocrinologist, doing things their way (eating carbs and taking medicine to fight the carbs) I’m done.Ā  I was thinking about my situation anyway and doing no added sugar for a few weeks. Then I watched The Magic Pill on Netflix and it hit me. I’m battling a chronic illness that is intolerant to carbohydrates. I don’t want to keep taking medicine that makes me sick daily, fat gradually, and drained financially. I want a change. I want to try this my way. I was also happy to learn my primary care physician follows keto eating and is willing to support my decision. I’m two weeks in now, and free of meds and insulin for the first time in years. My blood sugars are great and I’m hoping the trend continues. Just try to keep my motivation and momentum going!

More personal –Ā  So, I started thinking about my recent changes and decided, why not document my keto journey and my new-found love of planning? I started an Instagram account called @plan_on_keto. I’m posting all things keto, meal prep, and planning related because all of these changes and journeys are more fun with friends to share šŸ™‚ As silly as it may sound, given my track record, I’m also considering starting a blog. An official one. I need to actually write out my plan before I move forward and of course commit to posting to keep my readership, but I would be very excited to share all of this with other folks like me who are just trying to make positive changes in their lives, one day at a time. I know I personally have found so much community in the social media sphere.

I’m curious if anyone would be interested in reading a blog discussing keto and planning. That’s pretty niche, I know. Let me know what you think in the comments šŸ™‚
