Welcome to July

Happy July, cats and kittens! Much like the rest of 2018 so far, June flew by. I’m glad I was able to check in at least once, though. And, if you follow me on social media, you know I’ve super invested in the worlds of planning and keto.

This post is to officially welcome you all to the month of July. As my birthday month, I feel like a patron saint, welcoming everyone to the hot and sweaty festivities 🙂 I have lots of fun in store for the month, starting with a vacation this week. The best part? It’s a staycation! We have a few fun activities planned: a day trip to the bay, fireworks with friends on the fourth (like that alteration?!), and relaxing! Vacation travel can be fun and exciting, but as someone who has to go back to work after, I do find it exhausting. Knowing that I have unstructured time coming up warms my soul #selfcare.

Speaking of travel plans, we’ll be taking a camping trip this month. So, if you know me, you know I’m doing this for my family because I know how fun camping is for them. For me…well, I’m going be positive and grateful for the time with family and friends. Yay outdoors!

Also up for July, I’m starting a #100daysketo challenge. I want to see how many cheat days I can avoid.  Now, with all the fun stuff listed above (including a trip to the state fair) I’m basically setting myself up to fail. But wait! My goal is to have the majority of my days be keto/low carb/my version of keto as discussed with my doctor. I’m going with progress, not perfection (you know my motto, right?) on this challenge and that is the grace I need to not spiral out. I have been doing much better at not throwing the whole day/week/life way just because of a minor cheat or slip-up. Life happens. And if keto/ low carb is meant to be a lifestyle and way of eating, then I have to be realistic about what life is. Life is the sum of it’s parts. If the majority of those parts are on point then, winning!

About that birthday…I will say that 35 (oye) feels like a milestone for me, but I’m trying to handle it with poise. I’ve learned so much, gained so much experience and knowledge, and have so much to be grateful for. I don’t know if I could appreciate how much I truly have without the wisdom that comes with this much time on earth.
